"Nothing is softer or more flexible than water, yet nothing can resist it." — Lao Tzu
I think of swimming pool underwater photography as an extension of my main Project, Nereids, because the goal is the same - to create art under the water.
Just like the Nereids Photo Project, all my underwater photos are focused on the female body, but there's a more relaxed, athletic, and lifestyle vibe to them.
There are a lot of differences between taking photos underwater in a swimming pool and taking them out to sea. The challenges of shooting underwater are still present, but in a pool, it's easier to organize the details and focus on the creative side of the Project.
This opens up a lot of possibilities, like taking advantage of the time the model has to stay underwater and do complex poses or adding more elements to a concept. All of this helps me come up with new ideas that are then refined and developed out to sea.
